what do we do???

Today i was terribly hungover...all my own fault of course, but i still want to complain about it!once i had dragged my sorry self out of bed (while i was suffering the annoyingly chipper boyfriend did the dishes....LOUDLY) we made the trip to the car boot markets....and man did i score!but i will take phots of my haul and post them later....
afterwards we stumbled to the gypsy fair, and i got the most amazing giant purse...i will take photos of that too...
i love the house buses, for a while a few years ago the BF and i thought we would buy one...but after looking around we gave up, our interest has been rekindled today!the retro clothes sellers bus was amazing...and she had alot of clothes i wanted to steal!
It was so humid here in nelson today, with huge dark clouds hanging around, making us all keep looking at the sky and wonder when it would open....but the sky was tricking us and the clouds did nothing but look mad. The cotton top i have on has been 'rediscovered' by me..it was in one of the boxes of stuff i had for trademe, and i was just about to list it when i thought nope, buggar it, i was going to keep it for myself..and it is so comfy. i usually belt it at the waist, but i felt so terrible today i couldnt bear anything touching my tummy!i love all the needlework flowers and leaves on the bodice...and once again i found this gem in the bins at the recycling centre....

But, here is the sad little story behind the title.......
in two days i have to give up my beloved cat harry, as the BF and i were planning to go to Melbourne to live for a while, but now we are not so sure...
i have lived there before, and loved the shopping.....
both the BF and i are well travelled, and while we still have the travel bug, we get a bit sick of the loneliness that always comes when you move somewhere you know no one..and we are thinking, well maybe we should move back to Christchurch instead of melbourne, because we have friends there and could keep harry.....but then we will miss out on the chance to live in melbourne and the chance we may love it!
plus there is all the money we will need for the move...
but we kinda get a bit stir crazy when we live in christchurch...
but what if we make no friends in Melbourne, and we hate it?
and what if the BF can't find a job?
and we have to make the decision by tuesday or we will lose our harry...though he will be going to a great new home....
what to do, what to do!

lazy day sunday...................

this sunday was spent going around the car boot sales, where i found the MOST PERFECT velvet blazer! so instead of spending the $55 i was going to spend on one at a local upmarket vintage store, i only spent $5, don't i sound cheap!and the other bonus was the cheaper jacket fits me better!yay!
and the boyfriend also had a good day, he got his bday pressie a month earlier..a fold-up bike, which he wants so he can take it on the public transport in Melbourne...he was so excited i thought he would wet himself!
The dress above is one i have shown before, but it is so flattering and i am still in love with it....
it was about 10 cents from the recycling centre..i found it ON THE FLOOR, where they seemed to be using it as a mat!but after a good wash it turned out to be a lovely floaty cotton dress with an embriodered neckline..and POCKETS!i love pockets.
my feet nearly died in these shoes, i have discovered that a few hours on the booze is different to a whole day sober when it comes to wearing high high shoes!
yesterday i henneaed my hair, it takes about three hours but it is so worth it..
and i listed a whole PILE of stuff on trademe, at $1 reserve, so hopefully i will get some money to add to my 'getting to australia' fund!

valentines day breakfast...

for my valentines day gift i got breakfast in bed...handmade by the boy...homemade bread and hollindase sauce and local smoked salmon...mmmmmmmm!

we then went to the local markets and later shopped for a suit etc for the boy for my sisters wedding..he looked very handsome, mind you everything looks nice after breakfast in bed!

note the silver cutlery in the picture..i love it, and will spend hours at garage sales and secondhand stores looking for it!and i love my crown lyn dinner set too.....

the very unflattering picture of my valentines outfit is all to do with angle as far as im concerned..my thighs should never be looked UP at, i will remember this for the future!

the jeans are my nod to skinny jeans..i believe that PEAR SHAPED GIRLS SHOULD NEVER WEAR LEGGINGS AS PANTS OR TIGHT SKINNY JEANS!it makes us look like overstuffed sausages, about to pop.....

so i got these jeans from Farmers, they were really 3/4 pants with a rolled cuff and i unrolled them and they are not clingy..oh joy!i found the lacy top at the recycling centre yesterday, it makes my waist look tiny, not that you can tell, and has the most stunning pintucks and other little details..the cardy is from savemart, in a weird coral pink colour which people tell me i suit...i so need to dye my hair!i have been putting it off cause i use henna and it takes AGES, but is worth the effort...

recycling centre goodness......................................
today i spent an hour at the recycling centre, and after searching through the bins i came away with a whole load of bargins
the Ashley Fogel jacket im wearing the picture..it is brown tweed and has awesome buttons! I don't ususally wear jackets this length, but i think i kind of like it...and its super comfy

This amazing vintage leather jacket, made in mexico, it fits perfectly and has the wide collar i love, but its a bit too long, so im not sure what i can do about that!?I love natural fabrics, but can't bear to buy new leather, so i only buy it secondhand...a bit warped i know, but at least its recycling!?

i got three beautiful leather bags, one with heaps of compartments and paisley silk lining! another is a document holder in stylish black with big old fashioned zips in perfect working order, and the other is a black wrist bag...i love it!

A black and gold lace puffball skirt from the 60's...too small for me but i could'nt leave it there, it was calling out to me, in a sad little voice..."i'm too beautiful to be left here"

I also got:

two scarves, one multicoloured silk, one handknitted cream and gold wool

one rust and white waisted dress

a rose silk dressing gown, in perfect condition

a lace camisole( i love these things!)

a grey flannel homemade top with a fitted buttoned hem

a blue and white kaftan top

an amazing belt with a lion buckle!

and some shirts for the boy...

and all of this for $8!

but...

while i was sweating my arse off in the iron shed oven that is the recycling centre...

I was sending my thoughts and sympathy to all those involved in and affected by the horrific bush fires raging accross Victoria, Australia. Currently NZ newspapers are reporting the death toll at 181 people...but this is bound to increase...

So if you have stumbled accross this page please consider donating some money towards the people and animals suffering http://www.probonoaustralia.com.au/news/detail.chtml?filename_num=260955

Thankyou.

so i have decied to do it...on thursday i am going to buy the velvet blazer i have been lusting after for the last few weeks at one of the local vintage stores!
its over priced...but will be worth it!
this dress is a favourite...it has cute pin tucks accross the bodice, and one of those permenant pleat skirts..it was too long...and took me AGES to sew up, it now has a bubble hem kinda look to it which i like...

we spent last weekend in takaka...

i love wild and windy days, i used to frustrate my parents when i was younger because i would waste heaps of film taking photos of the sky when they let me have the camera...good thing i now have my own!

while the boyfriend spent the weekend hauling himself up rock faces i swam in the stunning river and entertained myself by seeing how long i could hold my breath...i love swimming outside.

it was another nice break but we stayed at hang dog, the rock climbers camp and it is very basic...

had to chop of my head in the photo cause i was pulling the strangest face, it was scaring me, and probably would have scared any small children or dogs who saw it....

the dress was found in the recycling centre bins ( its always an adventure going there!) it was way longer and the skirt was made up of acres of fabric! i love it with my little reversible 50 cent belt!
